From early childhood each of us has been inventing our bodies-through beliefs, habits, conditioning, and our mental responses to everyday stress. But we have done this unconsciously, which is why we now feel dissatisfaction on all levels-body, mind and spirit. “You can’t change the body without changing the self, and you can’t change the self without bringing in the soul,” Chopra declares. “It’s all one process, and it begins with knowing that your body exists to mirror who you are and who you want to be.”
At a time when millions of people are waking up to new possibilities opened up by alternative medicine, each of us faces a choice. The highest choice is to reinvent your own body and resurrect your own soul. In this way, Chopra says, you don’t have to watch entropy, stress, and old habits govern your future. “Aging and many lifestyle diseases are the result of entropy—the steady loss of energy inside the body. But each person can reverse this process. The key is awareness. To reduce the ravages of entropy, use the unlimited capacity of mind.”
In practical terms, REINVENTING THE BODY, RESURRECTING THE SOUL unfolds three keys to creating the self you desire:
1. The Soul Shift: You must stop seeing yourself in materialistic terms. You aren’t a physical body controlled by genes. You are a soul that expresses itself by creating a body, every minute of every day. The soul is connected to the unlimited intelligence and energy of the universe. By shifting your self image to a soul image, you can reconnect with the universe and its unlimited potential. This first step-shifting your allegiance to the soul-opens up unknown possibilities at every level.
2. Subtle Action: Before the soul creates the physical body, it creates a subtle body entirely out of information and intelligence. This is your ideal self, embodying your spiritual vision of your unlimited potential. The reason we all identify with beauty, truth, immortality, and perfection is that those qualities exist inside us already. Most of us have lost touch with that ideal self, and to heal this rift readers will undertake a program of subtle action, taking them through addiction to craving to attachment to intention to subtle intention to the ultimate goal: choice-less awareness. In this state you are aligning yourself with your soul, and as each subtle action is felt throughout the mind-body system, the result is physical and mental rejuvenation-for nothing is younger than the higher self, which is eternal.
3. Core Participation: Once you have reconnected to your source, a revolution takes place, and spirit is resurrected in physical life. Each of us is capable of being a resurrected soul-we can realize our highest vision of life—but to do this, we must live by the natural laws the universe, instead of trying to live in isolation outside them. The very laws that cause the ecosystem to evolve, that hold the biosphere together and safeguard the code of life are at our disposal for personal growth.
The message of REINVENTING THE BODY, RESURRECTING THE SOUL is that your highest vision of yourself can be turned into physical reality. You can become a living cell within the body of a living universe. You don’t join the cosmic dance-you become the dance. This book shows you the way, and once you’ve read it, your life will never be the same.
