Those We Love Most on The New York Times Best Seller List!
About the Author - Lee Woodruff is co-author of the best-selling In an Instant, the compelling and humorous chronicle of her family’s journey to recovery following her husband Bob’s roadside bomb injury in Iraq. Appearing together on national television and radio since the February 2007 publication of their book, the couple has helped put a face on the serious issue of traumatic brain injury among returning Iraq war veterans, as well as the millions of Americans who live with this often invisible, but life-changing affliction. They have founded the Bob Woodruff Foundation (ReMind.org) to assist wounded service members and their families receive the long-term care that they need and help them successfully reintegrate into their communities. Woodruff now works at CBS’s This Morning with hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King, and Erica Hill, after being a contributing editor at ABC’s Good Morning America. Her second book was a collection of essays, Perfectly Imperfect – A Life in Progress. Those We Love Most is her first novel. As a freelance writer, Woodruff has penned numerous personal articles about her family and parenting that have run in magazines as Health, Redbook, Country Living, Parade and Family Fun. Woodruff ran her own public relations and marketing consulting business for 16 years; before that, she was senior vice president of the public relations firm Porter Novelli. Woodruff lives in Westchester County, New York, with her husband and four children.
About the Book - On a warm June day, Maura Corrigan is walking with her nine-year-old son, James, as he rides his bike to school when the unthinkable happens. He darts on to the street and is hit by Alex, a 17-year-old neighbor. What unfolds in the wake of the accident is an intricate web of relationships, secrets, and betrayals that ultimately create a story of resilience.
Told through the perspectives of two generations within the family, Those We Love Most chronicles how an unimaginable sudden twist of fate forces each family member to confront their choices, examine their mistakes, and fight for their most valuable relationships. It raises the age-old question: Why do we hurt the ones we love?
At once thoughtful, penetrating and engrossing, the characters live with you long after you’ve finished the novel. This debut family saga will satisfy readers of The Summer We Fell Apart, We Were the Mulvaneys, and Saint Maybe.
