January 2010: News from Hooks Book Events
Tuesday January 12, 2010

HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAPPY NEW DECADE from Hooks Book Events!

We hope that you had a warm and restful holiday. Hooks Book Events is already gearing up for an amazing year filled with new ideas, great books and charming writers! Our 2010 calendar is filling up; please check out our site (www.hooksbookevents.com) to see who we are bringing to private events in DC, Boston and Chicago!

A Quick Look Back
2009 was quite a year for us and we are grateful to all those who helped us make it happen-our clients, the writers with their fresh ideas, our friends in the publishing world, our wonderful team who help us produce events and our two bookstore partners, Politics & Prose in Washington DC and the Harvard Book Store in Cambridge, MA. A big thank you to all!

Last year we jumped into the public event business with gusto. Our team learned a great deal and we could not help but notice that the 2009 event “bookends” set the tone for what HBE believes in and supports. In February, we welcomed Dr. Muhammad Yunus (Creating a World without Poverty) and we closed in December with Greg Mortenson (Stones into Schools) – both were sell-outs and drew amazing interest and support. Both men are working tirelessly to educate and support women and girls of all ages in impoverished and dangerous parts of the world. It was an honor to work with them and we plan to continue supporting their ideas -*small loans over bailouts and books over bombs!*

A Preview of 2010!
Hooks Book Events is pleased to welcome some new clients on the roster for 2010. We are looking forward to producing some fun, interesting book events for their employees and clients this year. Welcome Neustar, Network Alliance, UBS Womble Carlyle and FinCen.

A more complete list of our clients can be seen under “testimonials” on our website (www.hooksbookevents/testimonials). If your company is interested in bringing one of our featured writers to your office for an event, please let us know.

News from Boston!
HBE Boston is up and running! Mary Kate Maco is the HBE Boston Account Manager and she has already worked her magic at several area private book parties.
We are pleased to have the Harvard Book Store as our local partner (www.harvard.com) and we are looking forward to a great year in Boston.

Please contact Mary Kate (marykate@hooksbookevents.com) if you are planning a book party, or are interested in bringing writers with new ideas into your company or organization.
