About the Author – Frank J. Pietrucha, author, speaker and consultant, understands the importance of communicating the complicated.  He’s helped clients explain their hard-to-grasp ideas… turning concepts that baffle into comprehensible ideas bosses, regulators and investors embrace. He works with engineers, scientists, economists, lawyers and other smart people helping them mold their ideas into something non-specialists can comprehend. He’s been “translating” on behalf of the technology elite for over 20 years.

Pietrucha realized his talent for making complex topics easier to understand when organizing industry conferences on telecommunications, cyber security, mining and financial services in the United States, Chile and Brazil. At A.T. Kearney, a leading management consulting firm, and at The Launch Company, public relations agency for high-tech start-ups, he honed his skills in de-geeking specialized topics.  He started his own company, Definitive Communications, in 2001 working with clients such as George Washington University’s Creative and Innovative Economy Center, the International Intellectual Property Institute, The Hartford and NASA’s Ames Research Center.

Realizing the significance of a changing communication landscape, he coined the term “supercommunicator” to describe a new breed of forward-thinking professional who can apply classic content development skills to a mindset befitting the quickly evolving millennium.  He continues to help clients explain their complicated concepts as a consultant and writer but is now more actively engaged in sharing his supercommunicator philosophy with people wishing to improve their communication skills as a keynote speaker and workshop leader.

Pietrucha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University.  Additionally, he has completed course work at Universidad Iberoamericano in Mexico, University of Bath in England and the School of Visual Arts.  He resides on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

About the Book – In our increasingly complicated and data-driven world, many new developments are so complex that only experts comprehend their nuances. But what they don't grasp is how to tell the world about them. Communicating technical content to nontechnical listeners has fast become a critical 21st-century skill. Explaining what you do and why it's important drives funding, policy decisions, media exposure, public awareness, and customer adoption.

This groundbreaking guide will help anyone to deliver clear, persuasive messages that win hearts, minds, and budgets. Supercommunicator explains how to: distill details and data into big ideas; deliver meaning to audiences; use storytelling to captivate and educate; humanize content to make complicated ideas more tangible; layer harder ideas on top of easier ideas; strip away complex language, jargon, and acronyms; use analogies to explain unfamiliar areas; master new digital modes of expression; and more. Enhanced with a wealth of examples – from how the National Academy of Sciences used audience research to improve the way evolution is taught, to how NASA incorporated cutting-edge tools to visualize issues in climatology – this one-of-a-kind book reveals how to make the complex comprehensible, and the dry deeply compelling.
